ORDCO is seeking an energetic, proactive and self-motivated person with an enquiring mind who is prepared to continually improve their practical and technical skills. If you have these attributes, we can train and assist you on your journey to become a top shelf Agronomist. Ideally, you will have had 5 years plus industry experience, if not, we are prepared to train the right person.

We are a well-established independent agricultural co-operative providing farming inputs, agronomy services, research assistance, grain handling and marketing for our grower base in the Ord River Irrigation Area, while also producing stock feed and providing support to the northern pastoral industry.

Reporting to the Senior Agronomist you will be involved in:

  • Working with and coordinating a scout team.
  • Undertaking and interpreting soil and plant testing.
  • Installing, maintaining, and monitoring soil moisture probes and associated data.
  • Crop management recommendations.
  • Liaising with growers re crop management options and improvements.
  • Industry involvement in keeping up with new trends, tech and product options.
  • Assistance with trial and demonstration projects.

Major crops grown in the ORIA are:

  • Corn
  • Cotton
  • Chickpeas, mungbeans, borlotti beans
  • Cucurbits, green beans
  • Fodder, hay, pasture
  • Mangoes, limes, bananas
  • Forestry
